Overall Rating:

State parks require annual permit or day pass. Rustic camping with some "modern" pit toilets. Central water faucets around the park. No electric, no water at camp sites, no dump station or sewer available. This park is absolutely gorgeous with rapids, water falls, flowing over ancient granite rock ridges. Play in the water or fish in the river, hike the marked trails with points of interest. Mostly private campsites with trees and bush between sites. Love this park and connecting with nature here. It is a "mystic" place to be one with nature. Camped here many times. Always a rejuvinating experience.

Our travel trailer is 24 foot long and that is about the max length for most of the sites. There are a couple of sites that have a longer angled back in that could hold a bigger rig. But many sites are only big enough for your vehicle and a tent or pop up camper.

The day use area is busy on nice weekends because you can wade in the river and climb the water falls and rapids. Take your time to explore the trails and follow the river up and down both sides. Many hidden spots that are treasures of nature. We camped at Amnicon Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Superior WI, the nearest large city has everything needed or wanted, about 25 miles west on Hwy 2 and Hwy 53. Best for small travel trailers or similar or tenting. Campground road is one way and narrow. "Modern" pit toilets are newer construction with concrete floors, though a few old wood pit toilets remain. Great for a weekend stay or a few days rest and peace while on the road.
