This was our second stay and this time we made a last-minute booking. Love this park. Convenient for visiting family in Nekoosa. We had a great site and a very nice stay. We will be back! - vlunceford

This is a great park! Level, roomy, grassy, quiet, beautiful. Yes there are quite a few seasonal/fill timers but there sites are nicely maintained and actually look inviting. The lady in the office was so very nice! We Were here during the week. So very peaceful and restful! But louts to do...volleyball, horseshoes, mini golf, pool andmore. Check thewebsite for list of events. - Dawn and Ron
Aug 2016 - $19.00
Property is well maintained and while, yes, there are some sites with no shade, many do. And, yes, there are many full time permanent sites, they all appear to be very nice with patios and plans. Is it your fancy full of activities campground, no, but if you want a nice pool area and easy access to sights and want to enjoy the peace of it all .... it can be had here at Deer Trail Park. - SerenityElaine
May 2014 - $35.00
This park consists of primarily permanent sites, but has about 20 sites open for nightly use. It does not have a full-time staffed office, so the owners must be contacted by phone for check-in. There is no dump station and no sewer hookups, but staff will pump out holding tanks for a $10 fee. The owners were very friendly and helpful, as were many of the permanent residents. We would return if there was a need to stay close to Plover, WI. - mdtandem
Jun 2017 - $40.00
We chose this campground due to its location and distance from our previous night stay. The contact person is quick in responding and helpful. This campground is at a local gun club and it is my understanding they hold large meets throughout the year. This is a large campground but does not seem heavily used. There was one facility for bathrooms and showers but we did not check them out. The sites are pull through with full hookups, but some of them slope so you may need leveling blocks. With the general layout and space, I don't see why some of the sites slope as they could be graded for a better parking experience. This park was not crowded at all and the camp host was very willing to help us find a different site. Overall it was a good experience here. Nothing much to do in the area but again this is a gun club campground and for those purposes it is excellent as competitors would have plenty of spaces to stay. We would stay again if on the area. - JonesAussies

It's been a year since last review, just wanted to say everything is the same. If you know Wisconsin in the summer, on the weekend everything is booked and reserved. This is the one place you can get a big rig into without reservations. Not much to do in park but if you have something going in area, this is a great place to park. - what next
Jul 2015 - $32.00
So nice to find full hookups in this part of Wisconsin. Well thought out park in the pine trees. Easy access from main road. Roads in campground are hard gravel and wide with no trees hindering access for big rigs. All 104 sites are spacious and long pull-thrus, full hookups and angled for easy access. Two RVs share hookups, but the sites are very wide so this is not an issue. Good Sam has given this park its highest ratings for a campground with no store or office and bathhouses with cinder block walls. Wifi is in the works but not available right now. Manager is working very hard to make this a 5-star facility. The dump site is far removed from the camp sites with excellent, wide, level access. This is a regional trapshooting facility so it may get noisy on the weekends, but while we were there only two people came to shoot. Town and a casino are about 8 miles away. - mhollis1
Aug 2017 - $42.00
We went Sunday through Thursday. The check in wasn't until 4 but they let us check in at 2:30. Very friendly staff, lots for kids to do, campground is very clean. Bathrooms and showers were amazing. Very clean and showers are private. - Amanda H
May 2016 - $1.00
We happened to stay with our local camp group during the park's Veterans Weekend for free. We were warmly greeted and efficiently checked-in. Our campsite was located in a large grassy, open area typically used by groups. Each site had 30/50A electric and a water hookup. Electric was stable and water pressure 45+. Site width was generous and you didn't feel you were camping on top of your neighbor. Wi-Fi was available but a bit finicky to connect to. Once connected it was reliable. A dump station is conveniently located for use on departure. The rest of the campground is mixed into the pine forest. The park is family friendly with a huge pond for swim and play, a rec room and a nice little ice-cream store. Prior comments about golf carts are true and it gets a bit dusty when the wind blows in your direction. It was unusual the park allowed youngsters to drive the carts around at night without any lights. At any rate, the open camping area worked great for our group and we'd come back again. - Born2Roam
Jul 2015 - $40.00
This is NOT a park for transients or for a weekend outing. Most of the spaces are "seasonal" or "permanent" (they are purchased and used by part-time residents). We were lucky to be able to reserve a site that was isolated and had a great amount of space, but we got to listen to the seasonal residents having their patio/garden parties each evening.
Golf carts abound in this park, and many are driven by children or teenagers. Each evening there is a "parade of carts" with residents continuously driving around the facility with wine glass or bottle or glass in one hand while driving (usually faster than the posted 10 MPH limit AND ignoring one-way streets) until after the sun sets.
Teenage staff at the office and around the facility; never once saw any sign of adult supervision of the sites or streets.
Don't consider a stopover or a weekend here. - grandflic
Aug 2018 - $22.00
Site 66, strong 50 amp, no water, no sewer. $22/night, 3 nights. Really tight roads with branches were a problem with our 43' motorhome, but the site was very spacious and private. On grass, was concerned it was too soft so I rolled back and forth a few times to pack it down and had no problem getting out. Glad I did that left pretty deep ruts. Good dog walking. Sites in the 1xx range along the lake are best. Water fill up on incoming: turn sharp right and follow one-way signs to 1xx sites. Spigot will be on the right next to dumpster. Potable water also at the dump station, but tough to turn around and re-enter. Ok AT&T data, no OTA, everyone in the area uses Verizon. - bobcovey
Sep 2016 - $20.00
I live about 45 miles from this campground and stay there 3 or 4 times a summer. It is a great value, clean, quiet, private and has several sites along the water. I literally catch catfish 30 feet from the camper. The sites in section "C" are right on the shore and most are quite spacious and private. They don't have water and sewer on the sites but have dump stations and water points for tank fills. They never fill up except on Memorial day, July 4th and Labor Day. If you like to hear Whipporwills or have never heard one at night, this is a place you should visit. They are all over the place at night. - esox07
Jun 2011 - $17.00
Off the beaten path but well worth the drive to get here! After being turned down at the fully reserved state park nearby we were thankful to be directed by the SP kiosk attendant to this one. She even called ahead for us. Secluded, spacious, on the lake, pull through's, nice for kids and room for pooch to roam. It was rainy but we still had a great time here. Would return if in area. - snsfry
Aug 2010 - $35.00
We came to celebrate our son's birthday and we all had a wonderful time! The mosquitos were bad this year, but we still enjoyed our stay. The kids loved all of the activities and the people were all friendly and helpful. We already reserved our vacation for this year! - millfam
Jul 2010 - $33.00
The mosquito's are HORRIBLE! They do not spray for them, we could not stand to be outside at all (we live on a farm and are used to mosquito's but this was the worst we have ever experienced). There is no maintenance done to the roads, no gravel and when it rains there is water covering the roads, sites and all of the sites are sand. This makes for a big mess. We have a 28' travel trailer that barley made it into our site and we had to back down the driveway just to get out. If a tree falls they just leave the rotting stumps and you have to navigate around them. There is no TV reception and you must pay to use all of the outdoor play areas except for the swing sets. The showers looked terrible from what I could see. This is the first and last time we will be staying here. - Bree08
Jun 2009 - $36.00
This is a very nice, mostly seasonal-sites, which were all very well kept and clean. Family oriented, lots of kids activities. We stayed here for a 1 night stopover, and had a pull thru site. It was so nice in the middle and could see the kids playing in the activity area which is centrally located. Lots for the kids to do. We stayed there on a Friday night and it was pretty quiet, despite our site being close to the lodge/bar it wasn't annoying at all and quiet after 10:30. They have a nice store and lodge with a full menu and a bar/game room, with a separate game room area for the kids located near the activity area. 20 minutes to the Wisconsin Rapids, Wal-mart and several RV dealerships nearby. - ready2upgrade

Your GPS does not find North Wood County Park as it goes by North Wood in most map software. I will never get everything I want to say in under 2000 characters so trust me I have more to say. The campground is located along Lake Kaunewinne and Lake Manakiki. It has both electric but not all sites with electric have all the hookups so be sure to select one that works for you. We had site 37 which was very large and dry. We noticed a lot of sites had standing water on them but ours did not. It has a beach area that was murky but we still went for a swim. To get to the beach area you do cross a 250 ft suspension bridge, which was fun. They have wood for sale on site, which was good wood for $6. Every day the sheriff department came through the park. First they drove it and then they walked the park. On Saturday when they walked the park they did an awesome job interacting with kids. They challenged one of the kids near us to a round of bean bag toss, when they walked past our son they offered him a beach ball with their number on it. I was impressed and it seemed like the officers enjoyed it as well. The bathrooms were clean for the most part though the one stall in the men's room always seemed to be clogged. The entire park is huge, as further from the campground you will find two sand volleyball courts, some walking trails, two dams, a ball field and an 18 hole disc golf course as well as a baseball back stop. Our site had some good shade coverage though some of the sites are fairly in the open. Overall it was a great weekend and we enjoyed some quality peace and quiet. - Schultefam

The owners take pride in Moonlite Trails and it shows. Here you can truly enjoy a peaceful night by the campfire. Well maintained, clean, quite, and nice size campsites. Leave your hustle and bustle behind and camp here. Family and pet friendly. - C-N

Park is clean and quiet. owners treat you like family! Showers and bathrooms are clean! Minutes from Lake Petenwell beach and boat launch! Won't stay anywhere else when going to Lake Petenwell! - Jefe
Sep 2006 - $22.00
This is a five year old campground with the promise of exspansion in the near future. No, they don`t have a pool or even being located on the shores of Lake Petenwell, but they are only one mile from the Tenth st. boat landing and beach. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the larger campgrounds, then, just maybe this is the campground that you should check out. The lots are flat and seem to be laid out fairly well. - traveling faemer
