As was said in previous post it is cash only which can be a problem for some. I do not agree the sites are close. This is a commercial campground and no different than most on spacing. It is a nice clean and convenient CG right in town close to shop and the Buffalo Bill Museum which is the main if not only attraction in Cody, but well worth the drive. The only issue is the number of pothole in the interior roads, but with the shirt season and the harsh winters is can be understandable. All the CG in Cody close for the winter including this one. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed three days. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 5 nights. The park was actually in town but very quiet and well kept. The main drawback is the sites a very close together. If two trailers put their slides out you can barely walk between them. The grassy area next to the trailer was only wide enough for a picnic table and stepping out of your trailer you are very close to the sewer connection for the camper next to to you. WIFI was ok but nothing special. It worked most of the time. The people in the office were very nice and helpful. They do not take credit cards so be prepared with cash or a checking account. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Older campground that is centrally located and convenient to most everything in Cody. Check in was easy however credit cards are not accepted, only cash or checks. Sites are very close. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Laundry facilities are very good. Bathroom stalls are very tight for tall folks. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

The site was so small you could not even put your canopy out. You could not even open your window shade without looking directly into the next camper. They water the grass and make MUD for you to track into your RV. Not cool! If it is the only place you can get then it will work but otherwise find something else. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very convenient location to Museums and downtown Cody. Very friendly, helpful staff. Some of the smaller sites are close together. We’re in a 39’ Fifth Wheel. Site was nice (Site 125). Here for 4 nights. Would return. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice campground close to downtown Cody, but despite being close to the main highway, the park was fairly quiet. They don't charge a reservation deposit and do not take credit cards; checks and cash are accepted. Our pull-through site was of a good length and a concrete pad. The utilities were all convenient and worked well. Although we didn't use the bathrooms, we noted that they were clean. The laundry area was also clean and prices comparable to other campgrounds. The staff were very helpful and at registration gave us brochures about nearby places of interest. There is a Walmart within a couple of miles. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Old Trail Town was interesting and worth a visit. Buffalo Bill Center of the West is nearby, but would recommend driving rather than walking. There are 5 museums at the complex, so allow plenty of time. The center offers a senior discount and also honors AAA discount if you don't qualify as a senior. The historic Irma Hotel in downtown Cody has good food.

We felt fortunate to have a nice back-in site with a concrete pad. The roads are mostly gravel and it rained the day before so there was plenty of potholes and mud when we arrived. Access to our site was easy even though there was a mysterious (didn't move for three days and had no idea who it belonged to) pick-up partially blocking our access. Utility hook-up was straightforward even though the sewer connection is sunk into the ground. Cable was good, didn't need Wi-Fi and Verizon coverage was excellent. Park is in the right spot to enjoy all Cody has to offer and access the East side of Yellowstone. Walking around the park you'll quickly notice not all sites are equal and there are a wide range. Some are very close together (parking lot style) with nothing in between while others have grass areas and trees. We enjoyed our stay and when we return will cross our fingers that we get lucky again and have a decent site. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground but not all sites are the same. We had a back in concrete pad. Good hookups, WiFi and cable. We were only going to stay one night before going to Yellowstone but we stayed an extra night to enjoy the town and amenities. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a clean facility. It's well taken care of and the staff is very friendly. It's walking distance to a couple restaurants, Sierra Trading Post and 0.5mi to Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Good rate for being this close to a Yellowstone entrance. Cell service worked good (4 Bars on AT&T and 5 bars on Verizon). We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Sites are a little closer together than I would have liked, but it's right in the town of Cody with a Dairy Queen next door. (I ordered a cup of ice cream for my dog who they could see outside and they put a bone on top of it.) Did a lot of walking. Can walk to the Buffalo Bill Museum and down the main Street. Cody is 52 miles to the east entrance of the park and 77 miles to the northeast entrance. What a difference from the south to east. We saw lots of animals. Everything but a wolf. There's also a very nice dog park in Cody along a lake that the dogs can swim in and nice trails along the lake to walk. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Irma hotel (named after Buffalo Bills daughter) was very nice. Watched football and drank Gold beer, a local beer like a light blue moon. Went to the Buffalo Bill Dam outside of town & Buffalo Bill museum. One of the patrons at the Irma hotel told us about a restaurant she managed in Cody called Brewgards. She said they don't advertise, only work of mouth. It was SOO good, and not expensive. Try it. It's not on Tripadvisor but you can google it. Also went to the silver dollar bar.

We were on a caravan when we stayed here. Our dawn patrol helped to assign spots. Our group was pretty close together, but we were not in the "pull-thru" area ... we all had back in sites. Our rigs range in size from 45' to 24' ... the big rigs had some issues getting into their spots, but we were OK, since we are 31'. However, our site was on a weird angle, with water & Electric on the wrong side and not enough room to park out vehicle on our site. we had to park in the overflow area. The staff was friendly and helpful and we were close enough to a few attractions, that we could walk. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

When you arrive, it appears to be quite the place but when you get to your site it is unimpressive. It's a slab of gravel, a little grass and picnic table. I feel like I'm in a parking lot. And they have a policy you are supposed to call on the day you are coming by 3:00 or they will possibly sell your spot. That's an odd thing. Who reads the fine print? Not us. Fortunately they called us before giving away our space. Don't love it. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

A Tale of Two Cities: If you have a big rig (35'+) this is a fairly nice park. Spaces okay, grounds nice, people nice nice laundry room plus cabins and teepees. If you have a smaller RV (ours is a newer 26' pulling a Jeep) be prepared to be a sardine. Appears they tried to squeeze every possible place into the parking lot and spaces with little grass and no room at all in your space. If we opened our awning we would hit the slide out of the rig next to us. Bottom Line: Over 35' rig 90% chance you will get an adequate spot; under 35' rig 90% chance you will get a crappy spot. We will not be staying there again. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed three nights. I walked the entire campground and I can guarantee that ours was the worst site. #21. The campsites are extremely close together. Ours had no grass, just a postage size plot of weeds. If you have a big rig, you get some decent sites. This park was very disappointing and there is no way we will ever return.
