Overall Rating:

This campground is 30 miles west of Cody and 22 miles east of Yellowstone's East Entrance. There are electric hook-ups available in sites 2-21, but no water or sewer hook-ups and no dump station. Potable water is available in multiple locations in the campground. No AT&T cell signal. This is a very peaceful campground next to the Shoshone River. Our site was fairly well-shaded. We used this as a base for visiting Yellowstone, and for the money, it was a great place to stay. We camped at Wapiti Campground (USFS) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing is available in the campground, and there are bear boxes. There's a very nice bookstore in Cody, Legends, that has a great selection of books and gifts, including a lot of local and Western history books and Yellowstone guides. Well worth a visit!

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a base point for some sightseeing in Cody and Yellowstone with electric ability so heat and A/C are available. I use electric heat to save on gas when possible. Never met the host while staying for the 3 days. Loop with sites 1-20 have electricity and the rest are primitive. Pit toilets are available at the entrance and the mid point of the loops. Each loop has potable water outlets. Lots on the outside of the loop are pull through and inside the loop was back ins. Our site was level and gravel was the base. There is no RV dump. The closest dump is 15 miles to Cody at the state park. Only $6 to dump with potable water available. Yellowstone is 22 miles to the east gate and 35 miles to Cody. The town of Wapiti has a couple of restaurants and Billy Cody's former hunting lodge before the east entrance. We camped at Wapiti Campground (USFS) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park is about half hour drive to Yellowstone and same to the town of Cody. The drive and area is very beautiful. The park host was very friendly and informative. Our site #5 was a pull through with plenty of room. This is one of the quietest parks we have stayed in with plenty of privacy. There were no bugs to be found the time we camped. It was very enjoyable to be outside. There is a small stream and bridge at the back of the park to enjoy. The vault toilets were kept very clean. Hookups for electric only. No dump on site. Potable water. No frills. You can fill up and dump in Cody, WY for a very small fee. The city of Cody provides the service, just google it. We dumped at Signal Mountain on our way out of Yellowstone. We camped at Wapiti Campground (USFS) in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here as a home base for Yellowstone. Worked out real well. There isn't much to offer at this campground except for that. It does have electric hookups which is great and it has water available to fill holding tanks but not hookups. The nearest dump station is in the state park back toward Cody. They charge $6.00 to dump there. The toilets are pit toilets but they were kept very clean. I didn't use them but others in our party did. The Shoshone river runs right behind the campground and it was near flood stage when we were there due to the excessive heat causing the snow melt in the mountains. We camped at Wapiti Campground (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We went to Cody Wyoming several times and enjoyed our days there. The museum was awesome if your into that kind of entertainment. We also took in the Cody rodeo one night just to say we had been there. We also took a day trip to the Beartooth pass. That was something to behold with all the snow. But a word of caution, if you don't enjoy high mountain passes then pass up that trip. Of course we went into Yellowstone national park several days and saw a lot of wildlife which is always great.
