We camped here in our 5th wheel for 4 nights over the Labor Day Weekend. Although it was full, with a number of ATVs and horse backers, it was still quiet and relaxing. Medicine Lodge campground is at the foot of the scenic Big Horn Mountains and encompasses an archaeological dig site with interpretation, walking trails and fishing. Their staff keeps the entire campground clean and neat. The sites are shady on well trimmed grass with new tables and fire rings and free firewood. A change from last year is they no longer allow an extra RV at a camping site as they did in previous years in the larger sites. You cannot access cell phone, TV or wi-fi signals from the site. We love this campground and try to stay here at least once a year; it's a real steal. We camped at Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site in a Fifth Wheel.

A bargain at $6 (residents), $11 (nonresidents). A nice clean state park. It was full while we were here, atv's mostly. Most were rude, they rode them every where, even to the outhouses, and at all hours. Few campers observed a quiet time with generators, and there was no enforcement either. Campers on either side of us ran generators until 11:00 p.m. And you could hear others further away, as well as a few started up before 7:00 a.m. Not a biggee, as it quieted down within a few hours. Trees need trimmed as there are quite a few over hangs, on the roadway that rub on roofs as you drive in and out. The campground is quite a ways off the beaten path. We camped at Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: October, 2005 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

This is the cleanest park we have ever been to. The fire rings are actually vacuumed out and each campsite is so clean you won't find a cigarette butt or any garbage whatsoever. The sites are pretty level and the grass is kept neat. The picnic tables looked brand new. The campground is built within a State Archaeological Site and there is a visitor center that is pretty nice. There are public corrals for horses. There is an apple orchard where you can pick apples if you ask first. There are 2 different playgrounds. There is are 2 nature walk trails that are very nice. Kids can find fossils (snail shell fossils) in a dry creek bed. We were extremely impressed how neat and tidy this place was! There were about 10 other campers there and it was pretty quiet. Even for the first week of October everything was really green and pretty there. At $4 a night it is a steal even though there is no water and electricity. We camped at Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site in a Fifth Wheel.
