In the last few days, Locast, the not-for-profit that streams local channels from multiple cities at no cost (donations requested), has added Rapid City and Sioux Falls, SD, as well as Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA to their existing 9 other cities. Along with Android and IOS apps, Dish and DTV have added the app to their satellite receivers. The apps and website check to see if you're in the correct market area for the selected city. There are ways around that limitation though.

Dutch , this would be great if it worked in the Rochester or Buffalo markets as I am to far out from them to get good reception. But how many people would use it where a small anttena would work.

How many use the service in the areas where it's currently available is likely a mixture of fringe reception area folks and folks that want to watch on non-TV devices like smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc. It's worth noting that Rapid City and Sioux Falls were added because of private and corporate donations targeted at bringing the service there. Must be a lot of folks really wanted it there since both cities are outside of the major city metric Locast has been concentrating on so far.
