family of 4 looking for somewhere to go in January -

was looking at Sedona as were on the west coast and Arizona but a lot is shut down in much of west coast it seems- I'm hesitant to book California, Oregon and Washington as they seem to have stricter stay at home policies in place.

looking for somewhere without snow, beautiful scenery and city is at least semi open, and hasn't shut down much, I don't want to plan then not be able to go- such as- California- completely out of question lol

give your favorite places! we love suggestions and hearing from people first hand : )

Hi the_cocos_family and welcome to the forum. You say you are located on the west coast but evidently per your post you are not living in California and that Arizona appears to be out of the question. That kinda-sorta leaves Oregon and Washington and both of those states have snow in many areas during January with travels on some of the major highways not suited to RVs, etc. You might consider checking out southern Arizona anyway and possibly the Gilbert Ray Campground located just a few miles southwest of Tucson. It's a great campground with power and water spigots located throughout the grounds and a dump station. No showers however. Located very close to the old Tucson movie studios. You can call GRC to find out if they are open and as to what if any restrictions they might have implemented due to these times. Also contact the movie studios if interested. Lots of other nearby things to do in the immediate area also. Just a suggestion on this. There are a few parks and campground located along the Oregon coast that are open during the winter months as well but again they do get snow off and on at times. Best thing to do is pick and area or two and check a few of them out as to restrictions, etc. Hope this helps a tad...................

Travel safely and stay healthy, BankShot.............(aka Terry)

Maybe head east to Texas, hill country is very nice and doesn't get much in the way of snow, or maybe the solitude of the Big Bend area in the lower altitudes.

There are a lot of beautiful campgrounds in the Hill Country; Big Bend not as many and those in the Terlingua area are not great campgrounds. A great place to winter is Fort Clark Springs in Brackettville. Inexpensive and a lot of facilities in the camp.
