Looking for campsites around or along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Desire pull-through sites with full hook-ups. Two 45 foot coaches traveling together this summer. Thank you for your help.

From my camping experience with the B/T: Taylorsville Lake State Park. Lots of room but low voltage as you progress toward the end of the line of sites; especially in hot wx where AC is needed. Kentucky Horse Park Campground.

As a group of three RVers, we staged our RVs at a midway point and at the end then used the toad to travel both ways, half way along the trail.

Would suggest that you participate in the trails T-shirt program. Maker's Mark was our favorite tour. While there consider doing your own red wax seal, with labeled seal date on a purchased bottle. It's a souvenir to be shared at some later date.

If you have the time, I would suggest visiting Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, KY. Rustic and one of the only two distillers open during Prohibition. It's also good whisky!

Plus, they make a bourbon-based cream liquor (sort of like Bailey's but with bourbon) that isn't exported outside of KY. Yumm!

It's been several years since we did the BT; however, we stayed in one of the deluxe patio sites at Louisville South KOA. They're kind of close together (what site isn't at a KOA;)) but they were really nice. X2 on Joel's recommendation for Buffalo Trace's cream liquor.

It pays to have someone who doesn't drink with you on these tours. They get their sample, but you get to drink it!
